    My Morning Problem

I have this problem in the mornings, it’s not that I suffer from depression or anxiety or anything like that and can’t get out of bed, no, my problem is my two and a half year old daughter, Kyria.

I like to sleep, Kyria likes to wake up early. You see where I’m going with this?

Kyria likes to get up at 5.30am, I don’t.

I try to put her back to bed, but she can’t get back to sleep and keeps coming back into our room every five minutes. I try to get her to play or read in her room, but she’s not interested. So I let her get in bed with us.

Kyria is a fidget, she can’t keep still when she’s asleep, let alone awake. The result is I get kicked and punched in the face, I get head butted. Kyria brings toys into our bed and I lie on them. She pushed the covers off even if it’s cold and she tries to open my eyelids and she sticks her finger in my ear and nose.

Kyria’s new trick, now she’s out of nappies, is to tell me she needs to go pee. She knows I will actually get up when she says this. I can cope with this once in the morning, but Kyria is stubborn, so she asks to go pee every five minutes.

There is one thing I like about my mornings though, when I do open my eyes I’m greeted by Kyria’s big smiley face. I love my girl.
